Repost from @cbst_nyc • The Ending Mass Incarceration Team's partners at Refoundry provided a team of formerly incarcerated people with sewing machines, materials, technical support and training to make reusable, washable fabric masks to donate to people living and working at Rikers Island. They recently delivered 850 masks to Rikers and plan to donate an additional 2,000 masks this month, with donations continuing throughout the pandemic. Refoundry would like to engage more formerly incarcerated sewers to produce more masks. Here's how you can help: 🧵 Donate sewing machines, appropriate fabrics (breathable and meeting color restrictions), and/or sewing materials 👩‍🏫 Serve as online instructors and mentors (experienced sewers) 💻 Donate laptops, new or used 📝 Apply to be Refoundry's NYC-based Project Manager (part-time, volunteer or paid) 🎁 Donate funds for more machines, materials, and to help compensate sewers (https://bit.ly/RefoundrySewing) Interested in participating?
